Because of the recent success of iPad it is expected that iPad 2G will come in not just one version but more like possibly a smaller 7-inch and a bigger version which is a 12-inch. The next iPad could also have an OLED or organic light-emitting diode display.
At the end of 2010, the manufacturing cost of OLED is expected to fall down as production increased. If Apple will adopt OLED for its iPad it would be considered the poster child of technology and the first mainstream product to offer technology. The new iPad could come with a front-facing camera. But whether we will see a built-in camera hopefully with zoom and flash remains to be seen.

The only changes I would expect to see are a front facing camera for face time (if the ipod touch gets one tomorrow), and a bump in storage sizes.
Remember that apple has had the benefit of having the ipod touch in the market for years to figure out what features they need to have. The gen 1 touch was an experiment. The gen 2 added the external volume buttons that users said were needed.
