What features would you like to see in the upcoming iPad 2.0?

Apple must be working on their new iPad right now. Who knows...they might be done designing it and have already begun manufacturing them. And that's to say nothing about the revisions and improvements to the iPad's operating system.

What features would you like to see in the next iteration of Apple's iPad? What's missing from the current iPad that should be in iPad 2.0? USB? A camera or video camera?

I expect the next iPad to be an all-in-one device. I’m sure the smart Apple will be able to strike the delicate balance required to deliver all the required functions and features and still keep in handy and easy to use.

The first addition, in my opinion, should be USB port functionality. This would open doors for external mouse, keyboard, even memory cards and printers.

The second thing I would like to see is greater flexibility with storage – use of external memory devices like external HDD, CD/DVD or pen drives, and the ability to exchange files via Bluetooth.

The next iPad, must, in my opinion, must have phone functionality including the emergency call. That means there would have to be a place to put the SIM card into. Adding this feature will solve many of the other problems – it would allow anyone without WiFi or WiMax to use internet by means of GPRS / EDGE, etc.

Even if the iPad’s own screen cannot be enlarged to maintain a handy size, it should be given the functionality to connect to an external monitor, in addition to an external keyboard and mouse, so that, at the appropriate time, the iPad can be turned into a fully functioning computer.

Apple could improvise a simple kind of stand, detached from the main machine itself, where the iPad can be placed on the table just like an LCD monitor, or perhaps a photo frame.

Another important addition I think is imperative to take iPad to the top of the market is more flexibility with software. I would ask for Office software functionality such as a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation designer (like PowerPoint).

In one sentence, I would like the iPad to be a device with the agility to transform itself between handheld to laptop to desktop to whatever other way we want to use it.

Well to start off, I would like a little price drop. I bet they will indeed add a camera or two. It would be great if it had most of the functions of a cheaper laptop or netbook. A USB port wouldn't hurt either. I actually don't own a iPad because I happen to be waiting for the newer one to come out. It would be really cool if they turned it into a phone, or at least had the ability to text with it. They could also make it a lot faster. I like the size of it, but mayby they should have an iPad XL that would be a bigger and faster. I can't wait for the technology of the future has to bring!

In the past year and a half, iPad has proven itself to be a shape and size for all the game more effective platform. We have seen an amazing explosion of applications, the wind all the available distance.

Even if the game iPad often than the average cost of iPhone games, there is good news: Many games are there, no fees at all. See themselves in the slide below, and click "By providing our selection. Board games, arcade games, shooting, puzzle, simulation - there is something for everyone.

This is a tough question because the iPad achieves a delicate balance between form and function. For instance, I would like a physical keyboard, but that would likely change the size and aesthetic of the iPad for the worse. I'd also like a kickstand, but this would again probably look ugly and likely be flimsy.

But after some thought, I come up with a couple improvements beyond the usual demands on all mobile technology - faster performance, more memory, better battery life and cheaper.

1. Cameras (front and back): This one's a little obvious, but makes total sense. It would allow the iPad to use facetime and potentially turn the iPad into a multimedia recording / editing power house. I could totally envision movies being completely produced on a camera enabled iPad... it's already happened with the iPhone 4 - http://vimeo.com/12819723

2. Improved Screen: The obvious upgrade is to HD resolutions... it'd be great if they could scale the iPhone 4's retina display up to the iPad. The less obvious upgrade however, would be to include a Pixel Qi multi-mode display. This would improve viewing in direct sunlight big time and also reduce battery drain at the same time - it might even help with some of the overheating problems that I've read about. I've seen a Pixel Qi display in action on an OLPC and they're great. I hope Apple looks into that option down the road.

Hi @Greg, I would like the new version of the iPad to have all the features that were omitted or missing in the first version. There had been lots of complaint because of some important features that had to be there but are not. Some of the new features that I would love to see in the iPad 2.0 include;

* A video Camera and flash, so that users can upload their flash enabled videos

*A multitasking feature: The first iPad lacks a multitasking feature. If this feature is added to the new iPad, it would make it easier to move from one application to the other like on a normal computer.

*A Drag and Drop feature for file management: The drag and drop feature would make it easier to manage files on the iPad.

*An in-built SD card reader

*A fully supported GPS system

*A USB port and a HDMI output.

*A higher storage capacity. I’ll love to add all my favorite videos and need more than the 64GB that is in the first version

The three things I expect to see in the ipad 2.0 are...

1. A front facing camera for facetime.
2. Higher resolution screen like the new iphone
3. More storage

From a hardware perspective, I think that Apple definitely needs to include a camera (back facing) to support various forms of video conferencing. To me that was a huge miss on the first version, but my guess is that they sacrificed it to keep the cost at $499 for the base model. Apple tends not to lower the prices too much on their products, but instead try to offer more for the same amount of money, so a camera on version two would fit with that model.
On the application side, adding the FaceTime to go along with the camera and support video conferencing between iPads and iPhone4s to me would be a huge synergy and drive sales of both products.
The other thing I would like to see is support for Flash. I know it’s not likely, but I think there is a huge market for web video with this device and there are a ton of Flash supported sites that aren’t available on the iPad because of the lack of support.
