Bio: **IF YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL ISSUE, OR WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT ME DIRECTLY, PLEASE USE MY MAHALO EMAIL IN LIEU OF A DIRECT QUESTION - corey@mahalo.com - Thanks! -------------------------------------------------
For all those that wonder about me, well, thanks for wondering! My backstory is pretty simple. I grew up in Texas, where I fell in love with the guitar and music production in my early teens. I pursued that path for a while - earning my B.S. in Radio-Television-Film, recording my band and friends' bands every spare second that was afforded to me. After college I worked in the concert industry for a while, and later I became inspired to pursue a Masters degree. I attended Carnegie Mellon University and earned my Masters in "Entertainment Industry Management". A 'lah-dee-dah' way of saying "Entertainment Business". -------------------------------------------------
During my studies I worked for Warner Bros. in their Film Music department - helping executives select and score music for such films as "The Watchmen". I also spent some time in their Business Affairs and Licensing department, coordinating agreements for films such as "Yes Man" and "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". -------------------------------------------------
After WB I spent time at EMI Record - working in their digital marketing and business development department. There I interacted with key partners such as MySpace Music and YouTube - moderating content, increasing exposure to our library of materials, and developing business development strategies for proposed ventures. -------------------------------------------------
It was my Graduate thesis project that really drove me toward social media, and what ultimately led me to my current position at Mahalo. For the project, I designed and implemented a social network for Jewish organizations and individuals. I became *really* excited about that whole process, and I realized that social media is where I belong. So, I started working very hard towards that goal. I began taking classes in HTML and CSS, while also taking post-graduate classes in Intellectual Property Law, Telecommunications Management, and Project Management. (funnnnn stuff :-) I also acted as a freelance consultant for companies located in Texas and California - helping them craft online marketing plans, implement social media strategies and generate business ideas, while also building some basic websites and blogs for their missions and objectives. -------------------------------------------------
On a Mahalo-based note, so far, I absolutely love my answers community, and I'm flattered that somebody wanted to know more about me! I look forward to learning a great deal over the coming weeks, and -most importantly- I look forward to getting to know all of my rockstar users! -------------------------------------------------
Until then ... it's back to work for me! -------------------------------------------------
Go forth and conquer! -------------------------------------------------
