How do I rearrange apps on my iPad home screen?

Is there an easy way to rearrange my apps on my iPad's home screen on the iPad itself or does it all have to be done through iTunes?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi @z_rich

While you can rearrange apps on your iPad home screen within iTunes using the simple visual drag-and-drop function when your iPad is connected, it's just as easy to do on the iPad itself.

To rearrange your app icons on your iPad's home screen, choose the icon you wish to move, touch and hold your finger on the app icon until all the icons on the screen start to "wiggle" and have black crosses appear attached to them. You can now move any icon into any order on the iPad home screen, or indeed move it to a different home screen.

When you're done, simply press the iPad's Home button to take you out of the rearrange mode and stop the app icons wiggling.

The 4.2 iPad update coming in the next couple of weeks will allow you to further rearrange your home screen icons into folders by stacking them on top of each other.
