How can I watch TV on the iPad?

What are the easiest, cheapest, fastest, best ways to watch TV on an iPad?
Tip for best answer: M$0.78
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You should be able watch selected shows from ABC, NBC and CBS either via their custom apps or via browsing their sites. (The method varies with channel.)

Hulu is working on iPad app but have not said anything about the likely release date.

Whether these things will work for you in Canada is a different issue of course.

Apart from those mentioned you can stream live TV using different apps

I personally use NetTV http://bit.ly/djqDEV iTunes App Store link, (Free/$2.99)
and TVU player over wifi http://bit.ly/cikDU9 iTunes App Store link, (Free/4.99)
there is also TV.com http://bit.ly/bCdbXf iTunes App Store link, (Free) which shows full length episodes of many tv.com shows

However, the resolution of these made for iPhone/iPod Touch apps may cause the video to pixelate at double pixel mode on the iPad

1. The cheapest thing to do is record TV shows with a TV tuner card and make them in iPod videos. This is time consuming, technical and manual.
2. You can watch TV shows on demand with the Netflix iPad applications. This is a wonderful experience and I did it yesterday. There is no additional charge for this other than your standard Netflix monthly charge--but that is still a cost.
3. You can download the ABC application and watch select shows for free.
4. You can steal TV shows off of Pirates Bay or other bittorrent or torrent sites like mininova. There are also pirate sites that specialize in videos formatted for the iPhone, iPod and iPad platforms. This is illegal and it is NOT a good idea to break the law.
5. I'm sure there will be an iPad Jailbreaking solution publicly available soon and that will allow you to run Flash perhaps. That means Hulu would work.
6. Hulu for iPad will be out in a month or two I'm sure.
