Does the Wifi version of the iPad have any GPS capabilities or only the 3G version with its A-GPS?

It seems not clarified from Apples tech specs. I want to know if I can purchase a Wifi version and use MyFi access in my car for GPS turn by turn directions.

Also if the 3G is the only one capable of GPS navigation would I need to activate the 3G radio for the A-GPS system to work properly or could I simply use WiFi on the MyFi?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Right now when you use the WIFI iPad, it will only use WIFI hotspots to find your location, which will be somewhat less than accurate. This is also true if you are using MyFi. With the 3G ipad, the iPad can use the cell phone towers around you to find your location in a more accurate way. Basically, you need 3G if you want a more accurate GPS location, WIFI, using MyFi or not, will still only use hot spots because regardless, you are still only using WIFI.

So your best bet is, that if you want to use the GPS to the best of its capabilities, get the iPad 3G. But, if you have an iPhone, I would personally just stick with that and save the extra $130 you will spend on the iPAd 3G as well as the monthly data usage. I have both the iPhone and the iPad, and I couldn't see using the iPad in my car as a GPS. It is too big to use while driving. That is my opinion though.

Hope this helps.
